Get set for a day of vibrant colour, sounds and tastes as Melbourne's North comes alive at the Broadmeadows Fiesta! Check out the action at Civic Plaza, Pascoe Vale Road between 11am and 4pm on 6 November. Activities will take place around the council offices and library in Broadmeadows, and include performances from all around the globe, tastes of the world, cooking classes, bilingual story times, workshops, carnival rides, native bush animals and much much more. A unique series of FREE jam sessions and rhythmic exchanges exploring rhythm and blues, experimental sounds, European melodies, globalised fusions, afro-beat and jazz. Now in its third year, Multicultural Arts Victoria in association with the Arts Centre presents Visible Sessions, dousing Melbourne audiences in a myriad of cross-cultural fusions and global sounds. Bringing together emerging and renowned artists from Melbourne
’s new and established communities on a special outdoor stage at the Arts Centre’s Curve Bar, each Friday evening from 4.30pm to 7pm. The Visible Sessions will venture into experimental sounds, and explorations into traditional worldwide rhythms. It will resonate with the vibrations of the Japanese Shamisen, funky Afro-Beat and Ethio-Jazz, Portuguese Fado, Greek melodies and old school rhythm and blues. Showcasing Melbourne’s diversity and ever-evolving culture, Visible Sessions highlights the contribution of our new communities on contemporary Australian arts and culture. If you are involved in multicultural community affairs, and have the leadership and vision to champion the multicultural interests of your region, please apply now to join one of the VMC’s new Regional Advisory Councils (RACs). In particular we encourage you to apply if you live in one of the following regions: Loddon Mallee, Barwon South West, Gippsland and the Grampians. If you, or someone you know, understands the needs of local multicultural communities in these regions, and has the passion and skills needed to help the VMC promote unity, understanding and harmony, please apply by Friday 4 November 2011.

Interpreter Training and Scholarships
The Office of Multicultural Affairs and Citizenship (OMAC) is offering scholarships to suitable applicants enrolled in the Diploma of Interpreting at RMIT University in Melbourne. Scholarship recipients will receive $2,000. This amount will cover the cost of the course fees for a Government-funded place in the course. The following languages are being targeted for 2012 - Dinka, Kirundi, Nepali, Oromo, Somali and Tedim (Chin). To apply for scholarships, applicants should be fluent in English and one of the languages being offered. The RMIT courses are approved by the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI). Students who complete the course with a grade of 70 per cent or higher can obtain NAATI paraprofessional accreditation. NAATI accreditation is the only qualification officially accepted for interpreters.

| Cultural Diversity & Aged Care Expo - 12 November |
Hosted by The Centre for Cultural Diversity in Ageing, this Expo aims to inform people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds about the aged care service system in Australia, as well as about support provided to ageing members of our community.

| Multicultural Coastal Guides Course - November |
The third Multicultural Coastal Guides Course from Parks Victoria, a bilingual park tour guide program, will take place at the Marine Discovery Centre in Queenscliff on November 12, 13, 18, 19, & 20. It's an opportunity for volunteers from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds to learn the skills and knowledge to lead members of their communities in discovering Victoria's parks and coastlines, and their many health benefits. Submit an application form to attend by 4 November.

| Mobility Centre at Federation Square |
The Melbourne Mobility Centre provides extra help for people to get around the city. Services include motorised and manual wheelchairs, scooters, walking frames, strollers, crutches and canes for the vision impaired; TTY telephone for the hearing impaired, accessible web access, battery re-charge facilities and much more. The Centre is open seven days a week and can be found on level 1 of Federation Square car park.
